Professional Biography
Greetings!  My name is Jill Conrad and I am delighted to be your child's teacher this year. Professionally, I have been teaching for the New Haven Community Schools for 23 years.  I spent the first three years as a Title One Math Teacher and the past 20 years have been spent in third grade. I am passionate about teaching elementary children and I love seeing the children connect to what they are learning.  I believe that children need to be exposed to a variety of teaching styles as well as understand that their classmates may have a variety of learning styles.  I try to incorporate hands on activities, together with paper and pencil activities.  I have the children think about solutions as a group as well as think about solving problems independently.  We use manipulatives as appropriate in the classroom to help conceptualize new skills and concepts we are learning.  My classroom is generally busy.  The great thing about third graders is that they can handle the busyness and then settle down for the independent times.  New Haven third graders are the best!
